Chaim Van Luit

Chaim Van Luit

Chaim van Luit (1985) studied at the Visual Arts Academy and the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and is active in a variety of media. His current art practice focuses on being in transit. The origins of his work are thus to be found invariably outside of his work space - sometimes to, quite literally, appropriate elements from the landscape, sometimes to merely collects his unconventional materials. At times, he might also stage subtle interventions in the environment. His need to explore coincides with a fascination for history.

Like grafitti, van Luit’s work blends both tracking and leaving tracks. In 2013 Chaim van Luit was nominated for the Volkskrant Visual Arts Prize and the Van Bommel van Dam Prize. His work was exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht, P/////AKT in Amsterdam and gallery Meessen De Clercq in Brussels.
