'Pepper Smells Only When It's Ground'
After nearly a year as artist-in-residence at Horst, Kenza Taleb Vandeput closes her residency with a special performance during the finissage. Joined by J Boy and SVDL, she’ll bring a unique live experience to life at her installation. Discover more about the performance below:
In a time when planet Earth is drowning in misery and despair — the result of human pride, war, pollution, and hatred — all traces of spirituality have vanished. The connection between humans and the divine is suddenly severed, leaving humanity to face its fate alone. Driven by a desperate need for meaning, a few pilgrims begin a journey in search of one last spark of hope — something, anything, that might carry their messages, cries, and prayers to the heavens. After wandering the world guided only by faith and silence, they discover a single minaret still standing, defying the collapse around it. Moved by this discovery, the two pilgrims call upon others to join them in a ritual — a final act to lift up the hopes and prayers of those who remain, like a fragile beam of light cutting through the darkness.
