Born from a volunteer spirit, Horst has been shaped and energised by many hands, a network that has grown into over 500 budding artists who annually bring the Horst home to life, making communal work our heartbeat.
The Atelier summer weeks, spread across two weeks from August 24th until Friday September 5th, will offer a new set of participants the chance to collaboratively reshape the Horst Club and contribute to Asiat Park’s indoor and outdoor spaces, even planting the first seeds across the water. During this period, we invite you to join for a minimum of one week, beginning on Sunday evening with an introductory get-together and ending on Friday with a last look at the creative culmination of your zealous efforts. Your days will be filled with creativity and collaboration from 09h00 to 18h00.
We provide accommodation, essential sanitation, meals, drinks, and engaging activities throughout like talks, workshops, and group visits to Kiosk Radio. Each week offers unique experiences and, in return for your contributions, you'll receive five clubweekend tickets.
Build a living steel pavilion and learn metal and wood construction with YRD.Works.
Over the summer, German artist collective YRD.Works will realise Succession: a large-scale pavilion made from reclaimed steel and wood, situated on the banks of the Zenne across from Asiat Park. Designed to be gradually overtaken by nature, the structure marks the beginning of the Darse site’s transformation into a new green public space.
The construction will take place over three weeks, with the final two weeks forming part of the Horst Summer Ateliers. After the initial welding work in the first week, we’ll continue the build by combining metal and woodworking techniques to bring this nature-driven installation to life.
This Atelier is open to both experienced handy(wo)men and curious beginners - your perfect chance to learn by doing and to help build something that will stand, grow, and evolve far beyond the festival.
Transform the Swirl into a new composition.
We’re saying goodbye to the beloved Swirl by deconstructing and rebuilding it into a completely renewed club design by Laura Muyldermans and Sophia Holst, featuring a new light scenography by Ofer Smilansky.
During the Atelier Weeks, we’ll mainly focus on reconstructing the metal framework and creating new split levels in wood. The structure will be wrapped in new materials, giving the club a literal and symbolic fresh start for the new season.
All enthusiastic builders are welcome! Just note that you’ll be working at heights, so being comfortable on scaffolding or in a cherry picker is definitely a plus.
Building a new hidden sanctuary for Horst Club.
Horst Club has always been more than just the dance floors, it’s the sum of every part - including the spaces in between. These so-called ‘off’ spaces are where the pulsating energy of the club meets the soft, grounding quiet of its surroundings.
For our third club season, we’re creating a new hidden sanctuary tucked within the broader Horst Club landscape. Think of it as a cosy cocoon where time slows down, inviting visitors to rest, nap, or simply recharge before drifting back into the night… or day.
Shape the final touches that carry Horst Club from night into day.
Horst Club comes alive in the details. This atelier focuses on the subtle elements that shape how people enter, move, pause, connect, and return - details that often go unnoticed, but never unfelt.
Together, we’ll transform the in-between spaces: entrances, vestiaries, bars, toilets, and hidden corners. Spaces that blur the line between function and scenography, between logistics and atmosphere.
By shaping the final layer, you’ll help make Horst not just a place to party, but a world to step into - day and night, start to finish.
