Ring is a glowing crown floating above the festival visitors. An open decagonal perimeter is superimposed on a wider dancing arena delimited by existing graffiti walls, a space of hidden urbanity which has been reopened on occasion of the festival. Built out of the metal beams repurposed from the disassembling of the pre-existing shelter, Ring supports a wall of sound, organises an architecture of lights and vaporises smoke over the crowd, becoming de facto a piece of stage infrastructure. Both a background and a foreground, both a perimeter surrounding us and an object to look at - once the festival has ended the dance floor will become a colourful sports ground hosting a run track, a basketball court, a mini football field, tribunes and play facilities for the Asiat Park's celebration of urban life.

Piovenefabi is an architecture studio founded in 2012 by Ambra Fabi and Giovanni Piovene, based in Brussels and Milan. The studio produces architecture, urban research, territorial visions, and public design works irrespective of the size, commission, or client. When dealing with a shared context and its almost infinite interpretations, Piovenefabi believes spaces and objects can act as support for both personal and collective experiences. The studio was part of the curatorial team of the Lisbon Architecture Triennial 2019 - ‘The Poetics of Reason’ - with the exhibition ‘What is ornament?’, which investigated the role of ornament in the actual architectural production.

‘Ring’ est une couronne lumineuse flottant au-dessus des festivaliers. Un périmètre décagonal ouvert est superposé à une arène de danse plus large, délimitée par des murs de graffiti existants. Il s’agit d’un espace d'urbanité caché qui a été rouvert à l'occasion du festival. Construit à partir de poutres métalliques récupérées lors du démontage de l’abri préexistant, ‘Ring’ soutient un mur de son, organise une architecture de lumières et vaporise de la fumée au-dessus de la foule, devenant de facto une pièce d'infrastructure scénique. À la fois un arrière-plan et un premier plan, à la fois un périmètre nous entourant et un objet à regarder, le plancher de danse deviendra, dès le festival terminé, un terrain de sport coloré. Il accueillera une piste de course, un terrain de basket, un mini terrain de foot, des tribunes et des installations de jeux pour la célébration de la vie urbaine au parc Asiat.

Le studio faisait partie de l'équipe de curateurs de la Triennale d'Architecture de Lisbonne en 2019 - ‘The Poetics of Reason’ - avec l'exposition ‘What is Ornament ?’, qui explorait le rôle de l'ornement dans la production architecturale actuelle.
