At the intersection of park pathways, tucked away near the Paradeplein, you’ll find the new Niteshop for Horst and Asiat Park.

It is a place of opportunity, where young individuals can stop by not only for a drink or a snack, but also with an idea or a dream in search of guidance for a new project. The Niteshop functions as an informal in-between space, bridging leisure and youth work, for young and creative entrepreneurs.

Niteshop offers space for young locals to meet park visitors or host small events, make radio or sell for example their own T-shirts. With the support of organisations like OverKop and ROJM, project proposals and calls for help are taken seriously. In a park full of space, initiatives, and opportunities, the Niteshop becomes a place where something small can quickly grow into something bigger.

From an architectural point of view, Niteshop explores possibilities of sustainable and circular building. For the renovation, Alter and Baukreisel worked with reused materials from a former administrative building in Brussels, an example of urban mining. Their shared approach, where building and designing merge into a collective learning process, results in creative and unexpected forms. In this way, the building itself becomes a tangible example of reuse and imagination.

This summer, the Niteshop will open its doors and also serve as an information point for the Horst Expo, where visitors can pick up the exhibition booklet, among other things.

Alter is an architectural collective founded in 2024 as a non-profit organization (ASBL), rooted in the northern quarter of Brussels. Emerging from the international studio 51n4e, it brings together diverse voices in a hands-on laboratory setting. Focusing on full-scale construction with reused materials, Alter sees building and designing as equally important. Reuse, for them, is a creative and collaborative act that leads to playful and unexpected outcomes. The collective works with associations, local authorities, and universities to organize participatory workshops and construction sites, bridging theory and practice in a shared process.

Baukreisel is a Berlin-based non-profit founded in 2022 by a multidisciplinary group of architects, political scientists, and economists. After years of informal activism, they came together with a mission to promote the reuse of building materials through architecture, research, education, and creative advocacy. Baukreisel challenges conventional building practices and calls for a cultural shift towards circular, sustainable construction. They find aesthetic and cultural value in existing structures and materials, embracing reuse not only as an ecological necessity but as a path to architectural quality and innovation. Their work thrives on collaboration, both within the group and through broader networks across Germany.

Au carrefour des chemins du parc, légèrement caché sur la Place Parade, Horst et Asiat Park construisent le Niteshop.

Il s'agit d'un cabinet d'opportunités où tout jeune peut frapper à la porte  pour un verre ou une collation, mais aussi avec une idée ou un rêve s’il est à la recherche de conseils pour un nouveau projet. Le Niteshop fonctionne comme un espace intermédiaire informel entre les loisirs et le travail des jeunes. Il s’adresse aux jeunes entrepreneurs créatifs.

La boutique Niteshop offre un espace où les jeunes de la localité peuvent rencontrer les visiteurs du parc, organiser de petits événements, faire de la radio ou vendre leurs propres T-shirts, par exemple. Grâce au soutien d'organisations comme OverKop et ROJM, les propositions de projets et les demandes d'aide sont prises au sérieux. Dans un parc plein d'espace, d'initiatives et d'opportunités, le Niteshop devient un lieu où quelque chose de petit peut rapidement se transformer en quelque chose de grand.

Pour la rénovation, Alter et Baukreisel ont travaillé avec des matériaux réutilisés provenant d'un ancien bâtiment administratif à Bruxelles, un exemple d'urban mining. Leur approche commune, dans laquelle la construction et la conception coïncident en un processus d'apprentissage collectif, conduit à des formes créatives et inattendues. Ainsi, le bâtiment lui-même devient un exemple tangible de réutilisation et d'imagination.

Le Niteshop sera inauguré en été et servira également de point d'information pour l’Expo Horst. Les visiteurs pourront notamment s’y procurer la brochure de l'exposition.

Op het kruispunt van parkwegen, licht verdoken aan het Paradeplein, bouwen Horst en Asiat Park aan de Niteshop.

Het is een kansenkabinet waar je als individuele jongere kan aankloppen voor een drankje of snack, maar ook met een idee of een droom op zoek naar begeleiding bij een nieuw project. Niteshop functioneert als informele tussenruimte tussen vrije tijd en jeugdwerk voor jonge en creatieve ondernemers.

Niteshop biedt ruimte aan jonge locals om parkbezoekers te ontmoeten, kleine evenementen te organiseren, radio te maken of bijvoorbeeld hun eigen T-shirts te verkopen. Met de steun van organisaties als OverKop en ROJM worden projectvoorstellen en hulpvragen serieus genomen. In een park vol ruimte, initiatieven en mogelijkheden wordt de Niteshop een plek waar iets kleins snel iets groots kan worden.

Als architecturaal project verkent de Niteshop de mogelijkheden van duurzaam en circulair bouwen. Voor de renovatie werkten Alter en Baukreisel met hergebruikte materialen uit een voormalig administratief gebouw in Brussel , een voorbeeld van urban mining. Hun gedeelde aanpak, waarin bouwen en ontwerpen samenvallen in een collectief leerproces, leidt tot creatieve en onverwachte vormen. Zo wordt het gebouw zelf een tastbaar voorbeeld van hergebruik en verbeelding.

In de zomer zal de Niteshop opstarten en ook dienstdoen als informatiepunt voor de Horst Expo, waar bezoekers onder andere de expofolder kunnen ophalen.

Het ontstond vanuit het internationale bureau 51n4e en brengt diverse stemmen samen in een praktijkgericht laboratorium. Alter focust op bouwen op ware schaal met hergebruikte materialen, en beschouwt bouwen en ontwerpen als evenwaardige onderdelen van het proces. Hergebruik is voor hen een creatieve en collectieve handeling die leidt tot speelse en onverwachte resultaten. Het collectief werkt samen met verenigingen, lokale overheden en universiteiten om participatieve workshops en bouwprojecten te organiseren waarin theorie en praktijk samensmelten.

Baukreisel is een Berlijnse vzw, opgericht in 2022 door een multidisciplinaire groep architecten, politicologen en economen. Na jaren van informeel activisme bundelden ze hun krachten met als missie het hergebruik van bouwmaterialen te bevorderen via architectuur, onderzoek, educatie en creatieve actie. Baukreisel stelt de gangbare bouwpraktijken in vraag en pleit voor een culturele omslag richting circulair en duurzaam bouwen. Ze vinden esthetische en culturele waarde in bestaande structuren en materialen, en beschouwen hergebruik niet alleen als een ecologische noodzaak, maar ook als een kans op architecturale kwaliteit en vernieuwing. Hun werk is sterk samenwerkingsgericht, zowel binnen het collectief als via bredere netwerken verspreid over Duitsland.
