About the artwork
Across the Zenne, the German collective YRD.Works creates a new, living artwork. Inspired by the planned redevelopment of the area, the pavilion, titled Succession, marks the beginning of a slow transformation: what is now set up as a space for experience will, in the coming years, evolve into a living structure in which nature takes center stage.
Made from reusable steel and reclaimed wood, Succession forms an open architecture that will gradually be overtaken by climbing plants and local vegetation. Over time, the structure shifts from a transparent framework to an overgrown green steel cage, an outdoor room where visitors can temporarily dwell. In this interplay between inside and outside, the human is a guest, enclosed within an architecture that is slowly being reclaimed by nature. What first appears immovable gradually becomes a vessel for a larger ecosystem.
After Summer the pavilion will be festively inaugurated and will be temporarily activated in the coming years during the Horst Arts & Music Festival, a moment in which humans step inside, as guests within a park that is still unfolding.
With Succession, the first step is taken toward a gentle, process-based transformation of Darse, in collaboration with the city of Vilvoorde and as part of a broader ambition to turn this area into a new green lung, connected to Asiat Park.
About YRD.Works
YRD.Works (Offenbach, DE) is an interdisciplinary artist collective consisting of Yacin Boudalfa, Ruben Fischer, and David Bausch, working for over ten years at the intersection of space, sculpture, performance, and social interaction. Their practice merges artistic and architectural strategies with performative and participatory approaches to create spaces that are not only designed but also used, activated, and collectively developed.
With a strong foundation in public space and an open definition of art as a social process, YRD.Works realizes temporary installations, performative platforms, and experimental spatial concepts. Their work challenges conventional exhibition formats and explores new forms of participation and communal engagement.
In addition to their own artistic practice, they curate exhibition spaces, cultural interim uses, and interdisciplinary events, bridging art, architecture, and social exchange. Their projects often evolve through an open, collaborative process and are characterized by experimentation with different materials and media as well as the active involvement of participants.
Over Succession
Aan de overkant van de Zenne realiseert het Duitse collectief YRD.Works een nieuw en levend kunstwerk. Geïnspireerd op de heraanleg van een nieuw landschapspark markeert het paviljoen, getiteld Succession, het begin van een langzame transformatie: wat vandaag wordt opgezet als een belevingsplek, groeit de komende jaren uit tot een levend bouwwerk waarin natuur de hoofdrol speelt.
Gemaakt uit herbruikbaar staal en gerecupereerd hout vormt Succession een open architectuur die zich geleidelijk laat overnemen door klimplanten en lokale vegetatie. De structuur verandert doorheen de tijd van transparant geraamte naar een overgroeide groene stalen kooi, een soort buitenkamer waarin bezoekers tijdelijk kunnen verblijven. In dit spel van binnen en buiten is de mens te gast, gevangen binnen een architectuur die stilaan door de natuur wordt opgeëist. Wat onwrikbaar lijkt, wordt langzaam drager van een nieuw ecosysteem.
Na de zomer wordt het paviljoen feestelijk ingehuldigd, en de komende jaren tijdelijk in gebruik genomen tijdens het Horst Arts & Music Festival, een moment waarop de mens even binnentreedt, als gast in het landschapspark in wording.
Met Succession wordt een eerste aanzet gegeven tot een zachte, procesmatige invulling van Darse, in samenwerking met de stad Vilvoorde en binnen de bredere ambitie om van dit gebied een nieuwe groene long te maken in verbinding met Asiat Park.
Over YRD.Works
YRD.Works (Offenbach, DE) is een interdisciplinair kunstenaarscollectief bestaande uit Yacin Boudalfa, Ruben Fischer en David Bausch. Al meer dan tien jaar werken zij op het snijvlak van ruimte, sculptuur, performance en sociale interactie. Hun praktijk combineert artistieke en architectonische strategieën met performatieve en participatieve benaderingen om ruimtes te creëren die niet alleen ontworpen, maar ook gebruikt, geactiveerd en collectief ontwikkeld worden.
Met een sterke basis in de publieke ruimte en een open definitie van kunst als sociaal proces, realiseert YRD.Works tijdelijke installaties, performatieve platforms en experimentele ruimtelijke concepten. Hun werk daagt het conventioneel tentoonstellingskader uit en verkent nieuwe vormen van participatie en gemeenschappelijke betrokkenheid.
Naast hun eigen artistieke praktijk cureren ze tentoonstellingen, culturele tijdelijke initiatieven en interdisciplinaire evenementen, waarbij ze kunst, architectuur en sociale uitwisseling met elkaar verbinden. Hun projecten ontstaan vaak via een open, collaboratief proces en worden gekenmerkt door experimenten met verschillende materialen en media, evenals de actieve betrokkenheid van deelnemers.

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
